Compass Creative Arts in lockdown

Throughout lockdown, Compass worked online with artist and facilitator Lisa-Marie Gibbs to deliver weekly Creative Art sessions.

The sessions were developed with our fantastic volunteers and peer recovery workers. They were fun and experimental; suitable for complete beginners as well as practicing creatives. They were a place to uncover new ideas, using materials found in the home to try something new.

Through their art and from the comfort and safety of home, the group journeyed to the sea and visited a lost garden. They took 100 steps and drew everything they saw after every ten minutes and they practice costume drawing, free hand drawing and perspective drawing. They discussed favourite artists, drew to music and used art and creativity to keep well in challenging times.

You can now see a film of the art works created on Reading Culture Live.
